What is vitamin B12?
Vitamin B12 is also known as Methylcobalamin, but that’s a mouthful. It’s naturally found in food and is important for the function of the central nervous system. It helps keep your body’s blood and cells healthy and helps make DNA. Low in B12, well you're likely to be low in energy too.
Why is Vitamin B12 in our toothpaste?
For the vegans – and everybody else, really. Vitamin B12 is the vitamin that vegans are most commonly deficient in, as it’s typically found in fish, meat, poultry, eggs, and dairy products.
In fact, a 2019 report from The Guardian claims that “B12 levels in vegans are a third of what is recommended”.

Is Vitamin B12 safe?
Absolutely. We wouldn’t put anything in our paste that isn’t safe to put in your mouth. Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin, so your body will expel whatever it doesn’t need.
